POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Uniforms for grades K-8
Blue, black or khaki pants, skirt or jumper with a solid color, collared polo shirt.
Navy blue, white, black or maroon sweater.
Capitol Hill fleece or sweatshirt. No other sweatshirts, hoodies or jackets will be allowed in the classroom.
Skirts and jumpers are to be knee length. If leggings are worn, skirts must extend below fingertips when standing at attention.
Sandals are acceptable if they fasten to the foot. No flipflops.
Turtlenecks may be worn under the polo shirt for added warmth.
No Shorts.
Uniforms for Pre-K and High School
No uniform, but general guidelines of modesty and propriety are expected.
No Shorts.
UNLOADING AND LOADING
These policies may change as the school year gets underway.
The school will be open at 7:45 a.m. The teachers will be unloading the students from their cars.
School ends at 12:00 noon. To pick up your student, pull through the parking lot as specified by the traffic pattern. Stop at the sidewalk along the west side of the building. Please pull all the way forward. The teachers will load students into the cars. Please display your visor card on the visor so that we may easily identify your car.
After 12:15, parents will be charged $1.00 per minute paid to the teacher who is monitoring the student.
SNACK AND RECESS
The pre-K through 3rd grade students will have a 15-minute outdoor recess. It is important for these students to get fresh air and use their large muscles. Please be sure that your student is dressed for the weather. After recess they will have snack. The 4th grade and up will have a 15-minute snack/recess break.
Snacks should be small, nutritional and easily eaten in 15 minutes. Please do not pack anything that could spill, i.e. fruit cups. No juices of any kind. Water only.
WATER
All of the teachers allow water at the student’s individual seat. The water bottles should be low profile, holding about 8 oz. It is our experience that younger students rarely drink a full 8 oz. during a school day, so a small bottle is sufficient. Large water bottles (over 16 oz.) are unstable and fall or are knocked off the desks quite easily and are discouraged for all students.
